Morrell House

  • by

Today I helped out with my church at the Morrell House. They are helping to restore an old Craftsman style house for the City of Redondo Beach.

Here is the house: That is Mike waving.

He and I moved lots of dirt today.

Bill and Neil helped too. We wheelbarrowed the dirt into the forms that would become the wheelchair ramp and tamped it down with the tamping machine you see Neil using.

Sarah got to use the tamper too. It makes your arms jello if you use it too long.

Later in the day we dug a trench along the outer edge of the ramp. Next week they will pour concrete over it to form the rest of the ramp.

Mario and Jim (Not shown) were there today also. They were working on the electrical system.

The three plumbers were there as well. I think the finished up all the rough plumbing today.

For a while Bill dug a nice hole under the house. It turned out later that he didn’t really need to do that….

I had a great, though tiring time helping out.
