Donna and I got up VERY early (4:15 AM) and headed down to San Onofre State Beach for the day. We wanted to get there soon after the gates opened at 6:00 AM to be sure that we got a spot. We arrived at around 6:20 and there was no line. We were invited by some very long time friends of mine and we had a great day!
The surf was pretty good, about 2-3 feet. Donna and I went out twice. I was real tired from the digging the day before so my paddling skills were very poor. I did stand up a few times though. |

Rod (shown here) and a bunch of other people surfed too. |
Ron and Kathy were there with their brand new 1 month old baby Rachel. I hadn’t seen them in a very long time. They recently moved back into the area from San Diego. |
Donna (and I) had a great time relaxing with everyone. Here, Donna is petting Callahan. |
This cutie is Greta, and you can see part of our new car behind her. |
Kristin, Rod’s wife, even got some time to relax. Most of the time she was running around being “Mom” to the 25 kids that were there. |
We even had a chance to play some 6-man Truco, Argentina’s national card game. |
We all had a great time. This isn’t everyone, but it is the die-hards who stayed until after 6 PM! |
